| - Karma Police Okay...today I'll try and jam in everything I kind of wanted to post over the weekend, but couldn't manage to post.
Thanksgiving was nice. Aside from 6 hours in the car (not fun), I had a really good time. A couple of point about the day to bring out.
The admirable (ha) mayor of Alva, Oklahoma, Arden Chaffee, grace us with his presence just before we ate our meal. His daughter Miranda was a close friend of my little sister's growing up, and she wanted to come by and see the baby. So, they stopped in to say hi, and stayed for nearly an hour, while the food slowly grew cold and the gravy congealed. I was not amused.
My brothers and sisters and I took our regular tour of the town we grew up in, driving past all the houses we'd lived in and the schools we'd attended. That was a good time. We made fun of people we remembered from childhood and also some people we saw along the way.
When we were getting ready to leave and I was getting all the meat off the turkey so it could be divided up, my brother started making the inevitable "white meat/dark meat" jokes. My older sister figured out what he was saying and started laughing in the corner.
Then my mother, completely oblivious to the joke, says "You know I've always found white meat to be really dry, while dark meat is sooo juicy." This proved too much for me and my siblings and we collapsed in laughter. After a few moments my mother realized what she'd said and laughed at it herself.
I got home too late to watch the Apprentice and the tape I programmed to record it had not turned on. Luckily, CNBC rebroadcasts the show on Friday nights, so I got to watch it then. As much as I wished Ivana had been fired, it did mean that Kelly automatically goes into the final four, which just assures him his win.
Oh, and I'm not watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition anymore. It seems clear that the producers are just trying to make us cry more every week and I'm tired of the manipulation.
Well, that's all the news from the weekend. Perhaps something more will come to me later on...but I doubt it.
Have a great day, sports fans. |
