Well, as much as I've loved my time here at Xanga...I decided to get a big boy blog.

Come visit me at my new site: I am now here!

Okay...today I'll try and jam in everything I kind of wanted to post over the weekend, but couldn't manage to post.

Thanksgiving was nice. Aside from 6 hours in the car (not fun), I had a really good time. A couple of point about the day to bring out.

The admirable (ha) mayor of Alva, Oklahoma, Arden Chaffee, grace us with his presence just before we ate our meal. His daughter Miranda was a close friend of my little sister's growing up, and she wanted to come by and see the baby. So, they stopped in to say hi, and stayed for nearly an hour, while the food slowly grew cold and the gravy congealed. I was not amused.

My brothers and sisters and I took our regular tour of the town we grew up in, driving past all the houses we'd lived in and the schools we'd attended. That was a good time. We made fun of people we remembered from childhood and also some people we saw along the way.

When we were getting ready to leave and I was getting all the meat off the turkey so it could be divided up, my brother started making the inevitable "white meat/dark meat" jokes. My older sister figured out what he was saying and started laughing in the corner.

Then my mother, completely oblivious to the joke, says "You know I've always found white meat to be really dry, while dark meat is sooo juicy." This proved too much for me and my siblings and we collapsed in laughter. After a few moments my mother realized what she'd said and laughed at it herself.

I got home too late to watch the Apprentice and the tape I programmed to record it had not turned on. Luckily, CNBC rebroadcasts the show on Friday nights, so I got to watch it then. As much as I wished Ivana had been fired, it did mean that Kelly automatically goes into the final four, which just assures him his win.

Oh, and I'm not watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition anymore. It seems clear that the producers are just trying to make us cry more every week and I'm tired of the manipulation.

Well, that's all the news from  the weekend. Perhaps something more will come to me later on...but I doubt it.

Have a great day, sports fans.

Well, the turkey is out of its brine.

The cranberry sauce is cooling in the icebox.

And the cheese calls just received their fnial coating of pecans.

Most of my Thanksgiving prep work is done. Now all that remains is to get up at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow to drive three freaking hours to cook the damn bird.

Since my grandmother has lost it, we decided we wouldn't ask her to host Thanksgiving this year. Instead my older sister volunteered to host (only one other than my parents with room to host that many people).

So, tomorrow I sojourn to Alva, land of my youth. Such fun...I still don't know whether my brother will be riding with me or taking his own car...we both are bad passengers, not wanting to give up the driver's control. So we'll probably waste a huge amount of gas and take our own cars.

And I better get home in time for the Apprentice...

So, I was supposed to get to talk to Matt last night. And I sat up reading until about 11:30. Then I figured he must have been tired from apartment hunting yesterday and that we'd talk some other time.

So this morning I get an email from him saying he's sorry he missed me and that he did, in fact, leave me a few messages...

Hmmm, I thought, that's wierd. I checked my phone...and no messages. I got ready to e-mail him back and then decided to check the e-mail where I'd sent him my number...

..and I'd totally given him the wrong number. I have no idea who he left messages for...but I'm betting that guy is wondering who the guy is leaving him messages.

Anyway, had to share my brain fart for the masses.

Another day off...

Started off today with an hour at the gym, followed by a nice soak in the steam. It's amazing what just a few minutes in that steam does for my skin.

Then I headed over to the mall for a little bit of shopping. Bought a new pair of shoes, only $20...those of you who don't know...I'm a big queen about shoes. I love them. I've purchased appoximately 12 pairs of shoes since May of this year and will probably buy a few more pairs before the end of the year. I normally don't go into shoe stores alone, but prefer to go in with Vi. We can normally talk each other out of unnecessary purchases, but today I was alone, and I saw the pair of buckled Skechers I've been wanting on sale and I simply couldn't resist.

Next stop was the Waldenbooks, the very one I worked in in college and after. bought a few books for X-Mas gifts and then was attracted by the buy 3 get 4th free sign on the bargain table. I went straight for the $3 cookbooks and bought my fill.

Next stop was some Chinese food for lunch, which I'll be reheating for dinner I'm sure.

Came home, read in my chair for about 4 hours and dozed for one. Now am up attempting to get all the other little things I wanted to do today, like posting here, before the Apprentice comes on at 8:00.

So, not bad for a day off...even though my incredibly sexy new boss called me on my cell to ask about a case I worked on Monday. Apparently I denied someone that I shouldn't have. So, my boss went to look for the case, but since I did all my stuff so slapdash this week, he couldn't find it. I had to direct him to the three places on my desk it could have been.

Oh well, I'm not the perfect caseworker, and I'm okay with that.

Later...
